Horrorfest late, Babin goes Hollywood
What?! First of all, Horrorfest is late this year. Actually, it's not even this year at all. It's in January of 09. Very lame but I guess you can't make it rain and you can't make the movie world abundant with unreleasable horror movies.
However, the first five flicks have been selected. While perusing the synopsis of each, I came across one with Rumer Willis in what appears to be a pretty standard teen scream. However, what is not so standard is what I found in the movie stills when lo and behold I find a picture of a scared-out-of-her-wits Amanda Babin, America's Next Top Model's twin contestant from cycle seven. Very interesting.
While it does make me a little more inclined to watch this movie (Phedon Papamichael's From Within), it simultaneously brings back a barrage of movies falling into the history of models turned actors. While there have been pleasant additions to the silver screen (Elizabeth Hurley, Austin Powers), there have been far more blunders (Elle Macpherson, Batman and Robin, Cindy Crawford, Fair Game).
Although, these were SUPERmodels turned thespian. Babin was an athlete before ANTM and, while moderately successful on the show, did not win the competition. Perhaps the bigger your modeling contract, the lower your theatrical repertoire. Anyway, good for her. Maybe we can even hold out hope in the movie not being lame even for Horrorfest standards? Maybe?
